<h3><span style="color: #993366;">The Characters</span></h3>
Nathan Gamble is terrific in this film. Gamble plays Oliver, a bright and inquisitive twelve-year-old boy who deals with almost constant tension between his parents due to the loss of their first son, Oliver’s brother, who went missing years earlier.
Oliver is caught in a tug-of-war between the teachings of science, the message of Christianity, and the dark cloud hanging over his home life. His all-American family may appear happy, but tragedy has torn them apart behind closed doors. As his parents face their own faith crisis, Oliver struggles with some of life’s toughest questions. Why are we here? What happens when we die? Who made us? Oliver gropes for answers and wants to believe in God but has a difficult time in reconciling what happened with a good and loving God.
Just as Oliver turns to science for answers, a mysterious and quirky drifter miraculously appears. This mysterious traveler, who arrived at the same time meteorites fell from the sky, makes Oliver wonder if he is in angel. Between what the stranger says and what he is learning through science, Oliver must decide what he believes. His interaction with the stranger leads Oliver to the ultimate truth: that God can only be found through faith – and not by sight alone.
<h3><span style="color: #993366;">Who Needs Science?</span></h3>
My comments on this movie are that one only has to look around to find God everywhere. God is in the earth and the sky, the fish, birds and animals, the wind and the rain. He is behind the strange coincidences that one experiences every day... So, who needs confirmation from science? Especially when every day of our lives things happen to confirm that there is a God indeed.
