Five People You Meet in Heaven

Five People You Meet in Heaven is a movie of the book written by Mitch Albom. Eddie is a wounded war veteran, an old man who has lived (in his mind) an uninspired life. His job is fixing rides at a seaside amusement park. On his 83rd birthday, a tragic accident kills him as he tries to save a little girl from a falling cart. He awakes in the afterlife, where he learns that heaven is not a destination, but an answer.

In heaven, five people explain your life to you. Some you knew, others may have been strangers. One by one, from childhood to soldier to old age, Eddie’s five people revisit their connections to him on earth, illuminating the mysteries of his “meaningless” life, and revealing the haunting secret behind the eternal question: “Why was I here?”

Every Action Affects Our Life

It’s interesting seeing how heaven is perceived through someone else’s eyes. The concept presented in this movie in which you meet five people that in one way or another shaped your life or are interconnected with you is clever. Furthermore, in this movie these people explain to you about your purpose, destiny, and their involvement with you.

Isn’t it true that there are many circumstances which affect your life? Every action taken affects someone else and vice versa. This movie reveals how the “end” to someone’s life is only just the beginning of a new life. If the viewer feels useless or feels as if they lived without a purpose it helps them realise that there is a purpose to them being alive. In my opinion, this would be a pleasant way to gain closure once you have died.

Resolving Questions

In addition to that, one may have unanswered questions and this movie presents the idea that those questions will be answered. Sometimes we wonder about certain life events and seek answers, yet find that they aren’t able to be resolved. Upon death, hearing someone else’s point of view on why you should feel worthy and loved would be very reassuring and enlightening.

Eddie’s life in this story is totally believable. This is a therapeutic movie that will help any viewer who might be filled with sadness and feelings of unworthiness to feel better. Every life matters and we are all here for a reason.
