The Life of Apostle Paul

Here is a movie about the life of Apostle Paul. Paul was born around AD 4 in Tarsus, now a city in modern-day Turkey. Though Paul was originally a member of the Pharisees, a Jewish religious party, he was converted to Christianity around AD 33, after which he spent his life preaching to gentiles.

It is said that the resurrected Christ appeared to Paul, and this is what caused him to convert to Christianity and begin to preach that Jesus was the Son of God. Paul traveled far and wide, evangelising the life and Gospel of Christ, which he asserted that he received not from man but directly as “the revelation from Jesus Christ.”

Books of the Bible

Paul the Apostle, though not considered one of the original 12 apostles of Christ, is considered one of the most important figures of the early church. Of the 27 books in the New Testament, Paul is believed to have written 14, although scholars debate whether he personally wrote seven of these.

One book that is known to have been written by Paul is the Book of Romans, the sixth book of the New Testament in the Christian Bible. The book was written as a letter to the Roman church while Paul was in Corinth around 56 or 57. It was probably written during Paul’s third missionary journey. Scriptures in the book of Romans indicate that Paul was interested in going on a mission trip to the Roman church. He intended to preach the gospel there and serve as an example of how to live a life in faith.

Paul’s Beliefs

The core of Paul the Apostle’s teaching revolves around the idea that Jesus died so that the sins of his believers would be forgiven because of their faith. He wrote to tell the people of the church that salvation is gained through faith in Jesus Christ. For his work with missionaries and the resultant spread of the Christian faith, Paul was martyred by the Romans.

Paul was arrested in Jerusalem when he took a gentile too far into the Jewish temple confines. He was then sent to Rome, where it is believed he was executed. He likely died of decapitation due to a beheading by the Romans. While there are no definitive records of Paul’s death, decapitation is the commonly accepted reasoning of death.

Paul’s Execution

It is believed that Paul was executed in Rome under the rule of the emperor Nero. He was beheaded after he returned from his fifth missionary journey. It is likely that he was killed due to his involvement with missionary activities. The beheading may have also had to do with his involvement in the burning of Rome. Although Paul did not have major involvement in the burning of Rome, Nero executed all people that had anything to do with the burning of the city.

The time in which Paul’s death likely occurred was a tumultuous time for Rome. The emperor committed suicide soon after the beheading of Paul occurred. It is noted in several biblical dictionaries that Paul spent a long amount of time in jail. This was prior to the time that his death is believed to have occurred. The records on file show that Paul was unhappy in jail and was tired of being cold in a cell. This was only a few months prior to May of 68 A.D., around the likely time that Paul was executed.
